Since 1987, UEEC has supported (both financially and in capacity building) more than 200 CBOs spread all over the state of Uttarakhand. Some of them have grown into large organizations and now work independently; others continue working with us. Currently, there exists a very strong network of motivated and committed individuals representing CBOs, women’s groups, youth groups, balwadi workers and UEEC in Uttarakhand that not only shows a model of how an informal network works in remote villages but also serves as a repository of a wealth of knowledge on development, environment and gender issues. CBOs supported by UEEC meet at Almora four or five times each year to review progress, share experiences, and recommend future lines of work. The day-to-day monitoring of activities at the village level is the responsibility of the CBOs who work in close collaboration with the balwadi workers, women’s groups and youth. |
